DriveMan 1.4 Copyright 1995, 1996, Michel Forget Electric Storm Software The documentation for this archive is located in DriveMan.TXT, which should be located in the same directory as this document. This list of bug fixes and changes made to DriveMan is in chronological order; the new information appears at the end of the document. ** IMPORTANT ** Before installing DriveMan, you must end all tasks that might be using the 3D control library; these tasks include QuickCD, CD Player, and most other tray applications. To end a task, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, select the task to be ended, and click "End Task". January 7, 1996: DriveMan 1.0 This is the first version of DriveMan. There are currently no known problems. January 26, 1996: DriveMan 1.1 There was a problem with DriveMan which prevented it from saving your preferences properly unless you manually exited DriveMan before restarting your computer. This problem has now been fixed. February 24, 1996: DriveMan 1.3 BUG FIXES: 1. DriveMan will now recognize "Drive Z:" for users in large network environments. 2. DriveMan will now save options properly. 3. The context menu (accessed VIA a right mouse-click) is now easier to open and use. 4. You can now deactivate the low space checking feature of DriveMan. The previous version did not actually handle this correctly. NEW FEATURES: 1. The "Quick Access List" has been improved; it is now accessed through a convenient submenu instead of a second context menu. 2. The "AutoMaintenance" facility found in DriveMan has been vastly improved. It now offers the ability to completely customize the behaviour of the disk scanning service and the disk defragmenting service. ScanDisk You can now elect to scan all drives, or only drives of your choosing. You can also force ScanDisk to open, work, and close automatically with no user interaction. If you so desire, you can even prevent ScanDisk from fixing errors found on scanned drives. Disk Defragmenter You can elect to scan all drives, or a specific drive of your choosing. Since the disk defragmenter can only defragment one drive at a time, unfortunately, you can only specify one drive to defragment. You can also configure the Disk Defragmenter display (brief, concise, or unattended) and the type of defragmentation performed (full, files only, or space only). 3. DriveMan is now faster, smaller, and more reliable due to the use of a new compiler. March 12, 1996: DriveMan 1.4 BUG FIXES: 1. DriveMan will no longer crash if you select an entry from the "Quick Acess List". NEW FEATURES: 2. The "Quick Access List" has been moved out of the main menu to a new icon in the system tray. KNOWN PROBLEMS: 1. On some systems, it is hard to make the right-button context menu appear on the screen. This does not happen every time, and I am currently working on a solution. If you experience this problem, please send me a note describing your mouse driver (whether it is a normal mouse, or a replacement mouse/trackball/glidepoint).
